As we are not traveling as much as we use to, we plan to use this section to post some of the local things we do on a regular basis, such as hiking, festivals, and other outdoor activities.
We love when friends come to town for a visit and have been fortunate that we had so many in our first year. It seems that we never get tired of acting as tour guides showing off our new home base. With so many festivals and outdoor activities in the area, there is never a shortage of things to do o...
Things have been pretty quiet on this web site lately. So, are we MIA? Well sorta and then, maybe we've been quite busy.

"Home again... Chilling in Bend. Of all the places we've been, it always feels like coming home when we pull into Bend!"
Update: This post was first published on August 15th when arrived in Bend for our summer visit. We returned on November 1st for the winter.
We enjoy hiking and Bend offers plenty of options. We will add our hikes to this section and will first start out with the South Sister hike.

KAYAKING AT HOSMER LAKE
We had an enjoyable afternoon kayaking with our friends Tom & Alison who are RV’ers that we met in Bend a year ago.
Our first fresh hopped brew of the 2015 season!
Deschutes Brewery Tour.
This is our fourth summer to visit Bend, but our first to take the tour of Deschutes Brewery. In the past, we’ve made a point of visiting their Public House in downtown Bend, which began brewing in 1988. Construction on the main brewing facility began in 1993.

"Ten months later, we find ourselves back in Bend, OR. We are now officially on vacation for the next couple of months."
It's fun to have visitors from out of town. While we were in Bend, Diana's brother Al, Robt's son and daughter Travis & Sarah came to town for a visit. Also, friends Mirela, Julia (not pictured), Ann and Craig.

Looks like this will be home until at least September 11th, if not longer.
Early Thursday afternoon, we decided to hop into the car and do a little auto touring to see what we could find. Our plan was to take China Hat Road, from Bend, into the eastern side of Deschutes National Forest.
