To conclude Labor Day weekend, we headed over to Dry River Canyon (about 16 miles east of Bend) for an afternoon hike. It’s located just outside the boundary of Oregon Badlands Wilderness. The canyon is closed to visitors from Feb 1st to Aug 31st to protect nesting birds of prey. It was an enjoyable...
We took a drive up to Three Creeks Lake, Just north of Sisters, to check out the campgrounds today. We happened upon the Tam McArthur Rim trail and decided to take a hike. It was a great trail with lots of eye candy.
Steelhead Falls, which is included in the Deschutes Canyon-Steelhead Falls Wilderness Study Area, was on today's books.
We love when friends come to town for a visit and have been fortunate to have so many in our first year. It seems that we never get tired of acting as tour guides showing off our new home base. There is never a shortage of things to do or brewpubs to visit with so many festivals and outdoor activiti...
Things have been pretty quiet on this website lately. So, are we MIA? Well, sort of, and then, maybe we've been quite busy.

"Home again... Chilling in Bend. Of all the places we've been, it always feels like coming home when we pull into Bend!"
Update: This post was first published on August 15th, when we arrived in Bend for our summer visit. We returned on November 1st for the winter.
We enjoy hiking, and Bend offers plenty of options. We will add our hikes to this section and will first start with the South Sister hike.

Friday's hike (Sept. 16th) was a tad more challenging, to say the least, if not just downright difficult. But we did cover the twelve-mile...
KAYAKING AT HOSMER LAKE
We had an enjoyable afternoon kayaking with our friends Tom & Alison, RV’ers that we met in Bend a year ago.
Our first fresh-hopped brew of the 2015 season!
Deschutes Brewery Tour.
This is our fourth summer to visit Bend, but our first to take the tour of Deschutes Brewery. In the past, we’ve made a point of visiting their Public House in downtown Bend, which began brewing in 1988. Construction on the main brewing facility began in 1993.

"Ten months later, we find ourselves back in Bend, OR. We are now officially on vacation for the next couple of months."
It's fun to have visitors from out of town. While we were in Bend, Diana's brother Al, Robt's son, and daughter Travis & Sarah came to town for a visit. Also, friends Mirela, Julia (not pictured), Ann and Craig.

It looks like this will be home until at least September 11th, if not longer.
Early Thursday afternoon, we decided to hop into the car and do a little auto touring to see what we could find. We planned to take China Hat Road, from Bend, into Deschutes National Forest's eastern side.

With 18 brewers and brewpubs in Bend, you never have to go far to find a good brew.

"A wonderful option for those who live in an RV while a family member is at St. Charles Medical Center."

Yesterday, we ventured into Bend. We would always say "let's go to Bend,"' but somehow never made it on our previous Portland trips. So our arrival was a long time coming. Very first impression was wow; the traffic and red lights were more than we expected. Ju...
