We’re back at SKP Saguaro Co-op (second visit within a month) for a few days to regroup, stock up on groceries, do laundry, and of course, visit with friends.
We love short drive days – Just 88 miles! Found ourselves back at Patagonia Lake State Park, a place we enjoyed last spring.
When we returned to Tucson, we decided to visit Biosphere 2, which is about 30 miles north of town. Biosphere 2 is now a research facility owned by the University of Arizona, and they offer tours daily. We Landed at Gilbert Ray Campground in Tucson Mountain Park just outside of Tucson, AZ, and right next to Saguaro National Park.
Wow, a 308-mile day – that’s big milage for us! But well worth it with a view like this from our campsite overlooking Ajo Mountain. Time to chill.
"From this small BLM campground, we could watch the blue herons feeding their fledglings in the nests on the cliffs across from our site. A very peaceful place."
This county/regional park is in an urban setting north of Phoenix. Convenient to city life, but with a country feel. Great hiking opportunities right from the park.

Rather unique RV park located on the edge of Queen Mine, and easy walking distance to town’s shops and restaurants. A lot of mining history found here.
We just squeezed into the campground at this National Monument as the max length is 29ft. Great hiking trails with amazing rock formations can be found here.
