Rocky Point West BLM, California

When ”plan A” didn’t work out, we moved on to ”plan B.” Needless to say, that didn’t play out either. Down the road, we found a great dispersed site at Rocky Point West - BLM on Eagle Lake. ”Plan C” rules!

Rocky Point West - BLM, near Susanville, CA: Site not numbered - This site is: dispersed camping - no formal campsites • no potable water, etc • 5250’ elevation. May 15th - 16th. Miles driven: 146 miles (tap on mileage to see route & elevation change).

Pros:
• Extremely quit & scenic.
• Lots of birds.
Cons:
• No cell service.

Overall Experience: Smile

On the road again – Leaving Rocky Point agter an overnight stop. Hoping for a Plan A day because we haven’t made a plan B.



Rocky Point West is a small, undeveloped camping area on the west shore of Rocky Point, situated at Eagle Lake outside of Susanville, CA. It is located at an elevation of 5,100 feet.

Rocky Point West is part of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land that allows for dispersed camping in the area north of Susanville. It is described as a good option for self-contained camping close to Eagle Lake, the second largest natural lake in California.

Overall, Rocky Point West is a primitive, dispersed camping area managed by the BLM near Susanville, CA. It provides access to Eagle Lake and the surrounding natural environment.
