Found a fantastic campground on the North Fork Flathead River. Our site backs up to the river, and across the river is Glacier National Park. Got lucky once again! — Big Creek Campground, Montana.
Big Creek Campground, WY - August 13-20. Site #6 - Forest Service Campground with water nearby. Elevation 1327 ft. 22 total sites.
Guess what happened to us yesterday. After four years towing a travel trailer, it was bound to happen. The bright side: The host said some folks had gotten two flat tires on the road to this campground.
Additional info: Big Creek campground offers access to the stunning scenery and outdoor activities that's offered in Glacier National Park, as well as the surrounding Flathead National Forest. The campground is situated on the banks of the North Fork, offering excellent fishing opportunities for anglers. The area is also known for its spectacular hiking trails, which lead visitors through alpine meadows, forests, and rugged mountain terrain. Adventurous visitors can also enjoy whitewater rafting and kayaking on the nearby rivers. The area is also rich in cultural history, with the nearby town of Polebridge offering a glimpse into Montana's Wild West past.
Our Travel Preferences
We generally like to travel without reservations and prefer public camping opportunities over commercial RV parks. Occasionally we make exceptions — however, not often. We're okay with dry-camping & boondocking, but sometimes hookups are nice. We also enjoy the unique overnight stops that Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome have to offer. These preferences are the foundation for our "Overall Experience" ratings. A "yellow smiley face" doesn't necessarily mean that there's a pool or jacuzzi or whatever, but rather a stopover that we thoroughly enjoyed. While a "yellow neutral face" isn't a bad thing, we didn't get as excited about the campground as others. We think a "yellow frowny face" speaks for itself.
