It's fun to find a unique locally owned grocery store when on the road. The big chain stores are good when it's time to stock up on supplies, but finding an opinion with local favor is a real treat. A while back, we stumbled upon the Silver City Food Co-op in Silver City, NM, and recently we discovered Manor Market in Bishop, CA. Great selection, and their prices are in line with chain stores in the area.

The description from their Facebook: "Bishop's premier mom and pop grocery! Come enjoy our friendly, personable service, quirky down-home atmosphere, and awesome selection of hard to find gourmet items as well as your pantry's staples, all under one roof! We are a full-service grocery store and gas station that specializes in local products, natural/organic products, conventional and gourmet grocery, the best produce in Bishop, a full-service meat department, Bishop's largest beer and wine selection, kegs, liquor, and sandwiches/hot food to go! We also are happy to oblige special orders and requests!"

And add to that, they are very gluten-free friendly. We were able to find both Omission and New Planet beers.

When passing through Bishop, we make a point to seek them out.
