We had an enjoyable afternoon kayaking with our friends Tom & Alison, RV’ers that we met in Bend a year ago.

Deschutes Brewery Tour.
This is our fourth summer to visit Bend, but our first to take the tour of Deschutes Brewery. In the past, we’ve made a point of visiting their Public House in downtown Bend, which began brewing in 1988. Construction on the main brewing facility began in 1993.

"Ten months later, we find ourselves back in Bend, OR. We are now officially on vacation for the next couple of months."
This BLM campground is a couple of hours east of Bend, OR. Right now, the lake is so low that the dock and boat ramp no longer reach the water, resulting in an empty campground.
Besides the good wines we sampled in the tasting room, we enjoyed watching the sheep, geese, chickens wandering around the grounds.
Landed once again at Allied Recreation Group in Coberg for warranty work. When we got to the "wet" side of Oregon, we discovered that we had a leak in the slide.

Landed in Cape Blanco State Park, the most western point on the Oregon coast. We paid for two nights, but imagine our stay may be a tad longer.

It's fun to have visitors from out of town. While we were in Bend, Diana's brother Al, Robt's son, and daughter Travis & Sarah came to town for a visit. Also, friends Mirela, Julia (not pictured), Ann and Craig.

It looks like this will be home until at least September 11th, if not longer.
⚠️ Update 2024 —
This area has changed since our original post in September 2014, particularly the section nearest Bend. Unfortunately, the homeless in old, dilapidated RVs now have illegal encampments in the China Hat Road area. Lots of trash, and possibly a more significant risk of crime. We don't recommend dispersed camping here, and beware of your surroundings when hiking. It's a shame how they are trashing an area that was once quite scenic.
Early Thursday afternoon on September 5, 2014, we decided to hop into the car and do a little auto touring to see what we could find. We planned to take China Hat Road, from Bend, into Deschutes National Forest's eastern side.

With 18 brewers and brewpubs in Bend, you never have to go far to find a good brew.

Enjoying a week in Bend at Crown Villa RV Resort! Very nice! After the week is up, we head back to Thousand Trails near Sunriver.
